Oh, baby, the big weekend has hit the Big Easy! This weekend, online sports betting officially launches in Louisiana which means your first bets will be placed.
The launch comes just in time for Sunday’s NFL conference championship games so there will be plenty of betting options. Here are some player prop bets to take a chance on that are available on the mobile sports apps that have launched in the Pelican State.
AFC Championship: Cincinnati Bengals Vs. Kansas City Chiefs (2 p.m. CT, Sunday)
Bengals WR Tee Higgins Over 5.5 Receptions (+100 at DraftKings Louisiana)
If anyone saw how badly the Chiefs’ defense did last week against Buffalo Bills WR Gabriel Davis, they will be tempted by this prop because the Chiefs likely will feel that same wrath of Higgins. Higgins is arguably more talented, and Cincinnati should be playing from behind.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Over 29.5 Rushing Yards (-120 at Caesars Louisiana)
Mahomes can rip off a 30-yard run at any time. He did it last week, and he loves running when the games matter the most. Back Mahomes here.
NFC Championship: San Francisco 49ers Vs. Los Angeles Rams (5:30 p.m. CT, Sunday)
Rams WR Van Jefferson Over 2.5 Receptions (+100 at BetMGM Louisiana)
I have always have been a Van Jefferson fan. While he had just two catches last week, he did get a jet-sweep carry that showed his involvement in the offense. Working in the slot is a big weapon that QB Matt Stafford should hone in on.
49ers RB Elijah Mitchell Over 17.5 Rush Attempts (-110 at DraftKings)
While WR Deebo Samuel has been leaking into his carries a bit, Elijah Mitchell should be expected to dominate most of the carries. Last week Mitchell had 17 carries, but over the previous six weeks, Mitchell averaged more than 24 carries per game.
