Harrah’s New Orleans To Open Caesars Retail Sportsbook

A $325 million renovation of Harrah’s New Orleans Casino & Hotel will include a Caesars Sportsbook and World Series of Poker Room. The sportsbook and poker room will be open this fall, according to a press release from Harrah’s and Caesar’s earlier this week.

The large retail sportsbook inside the Caesars-operated Harrah’s will offer a comfortable viewing area for sports bettors to place wagers and enjoy competitions on large-screen televisions.

Caesars Entertainment is in the process of a massive renovation of Harrah’s, which will ultimately lead to a rebranding of the venue as Caesars New Orleans when the project is completed in 2024. The development includes a planned 340-room hotel tower that will loom over The French Quarter.

Sports Betting at the Caesars Sportsbook in New Orleans

The newly dubbed Caesars Sportsbook at Harrah’s New Orleans will have a 147-foot video screen that shows scores, highlights, and live action from sporting events around the globe, as well as up-to-the-second odds and betting promotions. According to Caesars, the venue will be a “luxurious environment worthy of a Caesar.”

The 5,700-square-foot sportsbook will have everything you’d expect from a sports betting location:

  • Giant television screens and monitors that show odds
  • Four betting windows
  • 12 self-service betting kiosks

Caesars Sportsbook at Harrah’s New Orleans will have seating for 140 people, including what Caesars is calling a “Fan Cave” with a multi-display wall in a private viewing area for up to 10 people that’s perfect for a party or special occasion. A 28-seat bar will also be on the premises to serve drinks.

“This first-class sportsbook will offer an unmatched game-day experience for Louisiana’s passionate sports fans and our many visitors to the area,” Caesars Entertainment Regional President Dan Real said. “At Caesars, we recognize how important sports, entertainment, and hospitality are to Louisiana, and this sportsbook will showcase our continued commitment to the state and its people.”

Bettors at the sportsbooks will earn Tier and Reward Credits through Caesars Reward loyalty program.

Retail sports betting launched in Louisiana in 2019, and bettors in the state can wager on just about any sport, including the LSU Tigers, New Orleans Saints, Pelicans, and the NHL and Major League Baseball. Caesars and other sportsbooks list betting markets for international sports as well, including racing, soccer, tennis, golf, and other sports.

Licensing, including for Louisiana sports betting apps, is governed by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, and a tax of 10% is levied on adjusted gross revenues from sports betting operators.

World Series of Poker Room at Harrah’s New Orleans

Beginning this fall, Harrah’s will host the largest poker room in Louisiana. The World Series of Poker Room will be a fantastic 5,000-square-foot setting with 20 poker tables. Card play will be lively and entertaining, just like you see on the television broadcasts of the World Series of Poker.

“The World Series of Poker brand represents the ultimate poker experience and it’s only fitting we open a poker room that matches its legacy,” Harrah’s New Orleans General Manager Samir Mowad said. “We’ll accomplish this by providing a best-in-class place for players to enjoy our games while generating a competitive buzz that builds camaraderie and creates a thrilling sense of victory for our winners.”

The state-of-the-art poker room will offer live poker for players in an exciting environment, with tournaments planned for three days of the week. The World Series of Poker brand is one of the most prestigious gaming events in the world, and the live poker room at Harrah’s New Orleans will be the first official World Series of Poker venue in the deep south.

The World Series of Poker Room at Harrah’s New Orleans is scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday-Thursday. Harrah’s plans to host poker tournaments every Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday.

Harrah’s New Orleans will provide a complimentary tableside beverage service to all poker players.
