Historic Partnership

Caesars made a splash in September when it entered into a multi-year seven-figure deal with LSU athletics. The deal made LSU the first SEC institution to sign a financial partnership with a gambling company.

As part of the deal, Caesars Sportsbook received naming rights for the new Caesars Sportsbook Skyline Club at LSU’s Tiger Stadium as well as signage throughout all of LSU’s major athletic facilities.

Caesars will also create an annual scholarship fund to support LSU students. It will not market to students and fans under the age of 21, and there are no plans to put a sportsbook in Tiger Stadium or other LSU game venues.

Caesars hasn’t limited its naming rights to Baton Rouge. It also recently purchased the home of the New Orleans Saints and renamed it Caesars Superdome.

Sports Betting Progress In Louisiana

Louisianans voted in November 2020 to legalize sports betting in 55 of 64 parishes. In June 2021, Gov. John Bel Edwards signed a pair of sports betting bills that paved the way for the industry to launch in Louisiana this fall. In August, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board approved emergency rules.

The first legal sports bet in the state was received on Oct. 6 when Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville opened its retail sportsbook. The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe has partnered with United Kingdom-based BetFred Sports.
